Tesco is at it again...

First there was the pole-dancing kit from the toy section of its website then there was the padded bra marketed at girls as young as seven and now pre-chewed birthday cake.

Tesco has been fined for delivering a birthday cake that was found to have been partly eaten by rats.

The cake had been partly eaten by rats while awaiting dispatch from the home delivery warehouse at the Tesco Extra store in Cardiff, UK.

An investigation by Cardiff council's food safety team revealed that bags of non-chilled orders for home delivery were being kept in 'an unprotected external part of the store despite store management being aware of ongoing rodent activity in the outside areas'.

For selling food unfit for human consumption, the company has been fined GBP8,000 and ordered to pay GBP8,000 costs.
